Light, melt in the mouth, and so easy to eat. These are very quick and easy to whip up when you have unexpected visitors on the way.
Ingredients
1 egg
110g caster sugar
70g very soft butter or margarine
60g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
175g sesame seeds
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C
Step One
Whisk the sugar and egg together until pale and fluffy
Step Two
Gradually beat in the butter or margarine
Step Three
Sift the flour and baking powder together into a separate bowl, and mix in the sesame seeds
Step Four
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture
Step Five
Spoon half teaspoons of the batter onto a lined baking tray, leaving at least an inch between each mound
Step Six
Bake for 7-10 minutes until golden brown – the biscuits catch very quickly so be careful
Step Seven
Turn off the oven and leave for 5 minutes before removing
Step Eight
Place on a cooling rack, as they cool, the biscuits will firm up and become crunchy
